(PIGS + ART) + (LITERACY + LOCAL ARTISTS) = PIGSHIBITION
PIGShibition: Community Art Project was proudly brought to you by the Ozark Literacy Council in partnership with the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission in the year of 2012 and 2013.
PIGShibition:A Community Art Project that…
- Drew awareness to local literacy issues
- Supported the Ozark Literacy Council and local artists
- Promoted the work of local artists
- Beautified and promoted the city of Fayetteville
Officially, 2012 was the Chinese Year of the Dragon; but in Northwest Arkansas it was the Year of the PIG! PIGShibition, a community art project, occupied the city of Fayetteville and raised funds for the Ozark Literacy Council while heightening awareness of our community’s literacy issues through the creative work of local artists. Twenty-five larger-than-life PIG sculptures paraded into town in July 2012 and remained until the PGTM party in March of 2013. These giant PIGS were transformed into unique creations by local artists through sponsorships by community members and corporations. These custom works of art were displayed throughout our beautiful city during the summer and fall and winter!
The PIGS were first paraded into town for the PIGmalion Preview party on June 2012 and PIGShibition celebrations culminated at the Piggies go to Market event on March 14, 2013.
