A Northwest Arkansas native, Laura Odom graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, with a Humanities degree, emphasis in art.
Laura can’t remember a time when creating art was not a part of her life. As a preschooler, she would often awake in the morning with the freshness of a dream that provoked a picture or even the knowledge of how to draw a three-dimensional house. Even though she had many art classes throughout her entire school career, she considers herself mostly self-taught.
Early in her adult life, she had the opportunity to study oils with Jane Garrison, an accomplished artist in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Through that experience, she broadened her skills by learning the manipulation of that medium.
After a short break to raise her children, she re-entered the art world via The Art Location in Fayetteville and a renewed study of acrylics. Working with Nadine Rippelmeyer, she began teaching children how to express their love for art. A recent mission trip to Uganda, Africa to teach others showed her the universal joy of art and strengthened her passion.
