Melinda Thompson is a native of Northwest Arkansas, graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1994 with a BA in Communications. She is a married mother of two and works part-time in advertising and interior design.
Melinda has always been drawn to the creative arts. She worked as a photographer through college, spent many years in performance Drama and volunteered at Church on the creative team. Melinda’s mother was an artist and passed away shortly after she was born. She had always wanted to try her hand at painting but work and children were always keeping her busy. When Melinda’s youngest child started Kindergarten last fall she decided it was time to give this desire a whirl. Melinda began taking classes in acrylics at The Art Location in August of last year and fell in love with painting!
Painting is now a passion for her and a much needed creative outlet. It has given Melinda the opportunity to show her work at various events, art shows and in local businesses. She is now a working artist and has sold many of her pieces already but most of all she says enjoys being able to paint for local charities. Melinda says that the best part being blessed with a talent is being able to use that talent to benefit others.
