An event like PIGShibition doesn’t just “happen.” It’s the hard work of many dedicated volunteers and also through the generosity of individuals, organizations and businesses, all of whom share and support the idea that literacy betters and empowers the NWA as a whole. This Sponsor Spotlight segment focuses on our partners of the PIGShibition event , offering a “behind the scenes” look into the “why” of PIGShibition, the decision-making process and highlighting each sponsor’s thoughts toward literacy and community involvement.
Arvest is such a huge presence in our area, and not just financially. Their commitment to philanthropic endeavours and community support is without peer. We chatted with Karen Gray, Vice-President of Marketing & Public Relations, to get her thoughts about their pig, Pig Up a Book and Read.
Why did you pick the pig design that you did? What was it about that design that spoke to you above all the other great choices?
We chose the design because it was colorful and simple. The key to the design was R E A D spelled out in the flowers.
What do people say to you about your pig?
People love seeing the pig on the square. Many have had their photos taken with the pig!
Any anecdotes or comments you’d like to share?
We were very happy that our artist worked so quickly. She was the first artist to finish a pig and allowed us to get our pig in place first.
